Time needed: 15 minutes.

No more unravelling bin bags!

  Cut a piece of doweling to approximately 5 inches longer than your bin liner rolls.

  Get two brackets (small curtain poles are handy) and screw them inside your cupboard. We have put ours in the under sink cupboard.

  Then put your roll on the dowel and hook over the brackets. Take care to make sure it’s fixed straight so it doesn’t slide off.

How to eat a cupcake…

To get frosting in every bite and to not end up with frosting on your nose. Follow this….

1.Take your cupcake out of the wrapper.

2.Cut in half horizontally.

3.Turn frosted half upside down.

4.Stick back together and Enjoy!

Admit it. Gone on, you have been eating cupcakes wrong your whole life!

Finding the Right Key.

This is a great way to organise your keys.

  When you are in a hurry to get in your door or if you’re on way out, being able to find the right key can be a pesky task.  

  If you are anything like me, I would spend ages rummaging around for the right key. They all looked alike, I would try one in the lock then another, and then another, before I would finally get to the right one and it was always the last one that I tried!

  So here we have it, another fabulous solution to an everyday problem!

  Just take a few different bottles of nail varnish. Wipe down your keys that you want to paint, with a baby wipe or rub them in some washing up liquid and rinse with water. Make sure your key is dry before painting.

  Then take your first key, taking care to protect the area you are working on with some old newspaper and paint the key. I find painting just the end where you attach it to your bunch of keys the most effective, like the above image. For a perfectly neat line attach tape before painting.

  Leave your key to dry on one side for approximately 20 minutes. Take care to check it has fully dried before turning over to do the other side.  And Voila! Easy to find keys!

Carbage.

Yes, that’s right garbage in the car!

Time needed: 2 minutes.

Here is an idea, which we have found extremely useful especially in the summer when we have kids in the car and have picnics in tow.

  Take a cereal storage canister put a plastic bag or liner in and replace the lid = instant car bin. It’s not too big so doesn’t take up too much space and stays upright so all the rubbish doesn’t end up in the foot wells and on the dash. Keep things neat and nasty smells inside the container. Really great for anything with a little bit of liquid left in too!

  As we all know taking the mandatory placky bag along with you on a long journey instantly lead to all sorts of arguments;

About who’s left the bag in the back with the kids leading to the lecture about suffocation and safety. The grumbling about it having holes in and who didn’t wrap the rest of Maisie’s ice-lolly in a wipe before putting it in the rubbish bag and its now melting all over the back of the car through the pesky little holes. The rustling and rummaging when you are trying to hear the sat nav…. Need I go on?!

So here we have it…The car bin a perfect solution to our first world problems.

GETTING RID OF PET HAIR

 

This changed my life.

 

You can use a window squeegee to remove pet hair from carpets and furniture.

 

  With a dog and a cat in this house, pet hair can be a real problem if left to be. This clever idea totally transformed our lives.

  A couple of minutes every few days keeps on top of it and it really does work. Don’t forget to make sure your squeegee is dry and clean before use, you don’t want to go dragging dirty marks across your lovely carpets.

  Start from the furthest corner from the door and work your way towards the opening. Once you have done the whole room you can simply collect it all up and throw it into the trash.

 

#Tip: if you don’t want to touch the hair and muck use a sandwich bag over your hand to pick it up just like you would when out for a walk with your pet.

 

 

  If you don’t have a squeegee to hand but do have a dry paint roller and some tape he is another tip to try.

  Put tape around the roller- sticky side facing outwards, you can use it to go over furniture, the carpet, clothes and even use it in the car! It is more effective than vacuuming and doesn’t need electricity.

 

Getting Started with Organising. Turning that 'Mountain' into a 'Mole Hill'.

Where to start? This is often what people say to me.

My number one tip is to:
  Take a picture of a small space and just sort the items in the picture.
  This makes tackling the BIG jobs easier as it breaks it down into smaller jobs. Once you have finished what is in the picture, take another picture and work on that area. Again just sorting and organising what's in the picture. This is always how I begin. It is a tried and tested method and really does help you to get started. When people ask me how to get organised this is always where I tell them to start.
  You don't need to think about the rest of the house or even the rest of the room just the contents of the picture. Start with the biggest item in the picture and work your way to the smallest. The key to organising is get rid of anything that you 'don't believe to be beautiful OR useful'.

  And all you really need to get super organised is some clever storage ideas.
